Big screen TV or Cinema Screen Projector?

Why spend $5000 on a 65" LED screen when for around half that you can have a 130" Cinema sized screen in your lounge room?

In years gone by the entry into having a large projected image in your lounge room was not possible for many reasons.

"The replacement globe is too expensive"
"The room is not dark enough" and
"Projectors cost too much!"

All these arguments are all no longer a barrier!

A lot of the Home entertainment projector models available on the market today have overcome these obstacles with the use of modern globe technology.

For example a 5000 hour globe from some manufacturers can be had for as little as $279. A 5000 hour globe will usually last most users 3-5 years. Along with the extra lamp life is an increase in the brightness (lumens) with a lot of models sporting between 2000 and 2500 lumens making them bright enough to be seen in rooms even with the curtains open during the day.

Finally the market for a good 1080P 3D Home Entertainment projector has plummeted over the last 3 years with entry level Full HD 1080P models now starting from under $1000 or an amazing quality dedicated home theatre projector can be had for under $3000 and the picture quality at 120” would rival that of some models TV’s on the market!

When looking at your next big screen TV, ask yourself this question, isn’t it time I looked at a projector again?

Safety with power leads and power plugs...

This was sent to me last week and is a good reminder for the festive season:

A Contract employee recently shared what can happen to an outlet and plug of a lead that has been maltreated and left in this condition over a long period.

The problem was first detected by a burning smell coming from behind the family fridge.

The electrical plug had been distorted by the back of the fridge being pushed hard up against it. This had led to the plug being twisted and not seated properly in the socket. 

That is the plug had come out of the outlet to the point where the active pin was only just making contact which developed into a hot joint.

The level of risk the home was under became obvious when the plug was removed and the extent of the burning was noticed due to the hot joint.

It highlights the point that we should all periodically check our power points, leads and extension boards to ensure they are correctly installed and fit for duty.

        Check that all appliances in the home to be in good working order and that installed in a correct manner.

       When leaving for any extended period turn off all appliances that are non-essential at the outlet, as this is a safe condition to leave the home and also may save you some money on running costs.

This allows the powerpoint to be recessed back inside the wall allowing for a nice flush installation with out the need to bend the power lead!
